I'm going to be up in Duluth, Minnesota, just bumming around until Tuesday. Duluth, you know, home of such bands as slow-core Low and bluegrass Trampled by Turtles.
This is a follow-up post to Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks. That song was so popular, they got a few covers already by admiring bands.
► Peter, Bjorn & John's original is "Young Folks". Its popularity was probably fueled by their amazing animated video.
► "Sitar Folks" is an instrumental version of their popular song, but done with an Indian instrument. This was available on the bonus PB&J's "Writer's Block".
► Dawn Landes's version is a weird Bluegrass version of "Young Folks". It's actually well done and you can hear violins in the song. I believe the only way you can get this song is via iTunes.
► Datashat's remix has not been officially released. You can download this song as well as other remixes on www.datassette.net
► Shogu Tokumaru's version is pretty true to the original. The only thing I've noticed is that the woman singing is very breathy.
► Nena, Olli and Remmler's "Lich Kann Nix Dafuer" is pretty much "Young Folks". The title, in English, is "It's not my fault", and I'm assuming the rest of the song have completely different lyrics. Also, Nena is most famous for that "99 Red Balloons" song.
