Somebody's Baby
I'm feeling 80s lately.
Jackson Browne's "Somebody's Baby" was released in 1980 off his sixth album Hold Out. The song also appeared on the Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtrack, which probably skyrocketed the song.
I honestly like Phantom Planet's version of the song just as much, I would have to admit. It's probably the only song I like from Phantom Planet, mostly due to the fact that I think Jason Schwartzman basically dumped his band to become an actor, once he got successful.
Also, please note that the soundtrack to "Not Another Teen Movie" is an all-cover album of 80s tunes, including: Orgy's "Blue Monday", Goldfinger's "99 Red Balloons", and Marilyn Manson's "Tainted Love" (so obvious!).

Thanks for posting this. I don't like Phantom Planet's version at all, but I love "Somebody's Baby" and am always looking for interesting covers.
Yo La Tengo and someone named John P. Strohm have also covered the song. The YLT version is on Genius + Love = Yo La Tengo. The John P. Strohm version is from a CD called High School Reunion: A Tribute To Those Great 80's Films!. Both are worth checking out if you like the song.
